George Washington (1732-1799) was the first President of the United States.

He served in the Presidency from its beginning in 1789 until 1797. He was the only President to be unanimously elected and the only one to have every vote out of the Electoral College. He was the only President who never even served in Washington, D. C., which is named after him because the building wasn't completed until November of 1800, just one year after his death. His presidency has been remembered for generations.
