John Tyler (1790-1862) was the 10th President of the United States. He was the first President to succeed to the office after the death of his predecessor in which he was called "His Accidency". During his Presidency, most of his cabinet resigned and he was expelled from the Whig Party. He was the first President born after the adoption of the Constitution. He had 15 children, the most of any President. He also served in the Confederate government during the Civil War.
