Rutherford B. Hayes (1822-1893) was the 19th President of the United States. He had a telephone installed in the White House. He was the first President to visit the West Coast while in office. He won the Presidency although he lost the popular vote to his election rival, Samuel J. Tilden. His wife was called "Lemonade Lucy".
