Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885) was the 18th President of the United States. He was a general during the Civil War accepting Robert E. Lee's surrender. He was originally named Hiram Ulysses Grant, but the name Ulysses S. Grant mistakenly came up when he entered West Point. He was the first President since Andrew Jackson to serve two full terms in office.
